NORTHRIDGE, CA- On Saturday October 8th, The Triumph Foundation held their annual Over The Line Baseball Tournament at Balboa Park. It’s mission is to provide people with disabilities an opportunity to play sports. Through advocacy, Triumph plays an important role in advancing their rights.

It’s founder, Andrew Skinner suffered a spinal cord injury in 2007. In the 15 years since, he struggled to find programs that adequately fit his needs. So, Andrew decided to be an agent of change and create his own.

“Why isn’t the government creating these programs, why aren’t other people doing it. Then my family said Andrew, why don’t you do something about it. That’s how the Triumph Foundation was born,” Skinner said.

People of all ages can participate in any event. Cross generational friendships have blossomed because participants say they feel a sense of comradery together. Having a chance to get physical activity isn’t the only opportunity that’s available. Support groups and equipment management are accessible on their website as well.
