NORTHRIDGE, CA- In 2019, Kohl’s created their first disability friendly clothing for children. Now, they are expanding accessible options to the adult population. The company is a national chain, so these changes are happening across the country. With more disabled costumers receiving service, thousands are now affected by the recognition.

Three of the company’s private-label brands are pitching in to help shoppers. Women’s adaptive offerings are being sold from Sonoma Goods for Life, Tek Gear and SO brands. Men’s products will also be under Tek Gear as well as Tommy Hilfiger.

The clothing is more comfortable to wear and much easier to put on. Independent dressing is one of the goals of the new line. Everything from leggings and jeans to long-sleeve tees, jackets and sweatshirts are being made available. They have wider necklines, functional leg openings and the ability to adjust the waistline for seated comfort.

Other companies similar to Kohls are understanding the need to expand to disability friendly clothing. GAMUT Management is now consulting with disability focus groups to gather details about the needs of the disabled. It is believed that more information will lead to better clothing brands for the disabled population.
